Meet The Crew

Whether you are looking for peace and solitude on your own or planning a family vacation, Upper Oxbow Outdoor Adventures can help meet your needs. Our spacious water front property will accommodate your quest for adventure whether it is running white water, or reeling in salmon. Other activities include horse shoes, tubing, bird watching, and hiking. For those inclined to golf, the Miramichi Golf and Country Club is only a short distance from the lodge (non members welcome. green fees applicable).

The Owners

Dale Norton (center) has been on the Miramichi river all of his life. One of his favorite past-times is paddling his "Old Town" canoe for relaxation. He loves spending time on the river where he can take in all the sights and sounds it has to offer. Dale enjoys sharing his love of the salmon and the river with all his guests at the Oxbow. Should an idle moment present itself, he enjoys kicking back on the veranda with a book to catch a special moment as the river meanders past his doorstep.
Debbie Norton (right) is the daughter of Harry & Reta Blackmore. She is just one of the many generations to have grown up on the Oxbow. Being the youngest in the family, Debbie spent a lot of time with her father, traveling to many remote fishing experiences along the Miramichi river for which she has such deep respect today. She has a smiling face that is always willing to help out her guest. Along with fishing she enjoys canoeing, poling & kayaking, she just likes to be in harmony with all the river has to offer. She loves to greet new customers and welcome them into the fishing fraternity at Upper Oxbow. You will be glad you came and shared what Debbie refers to as; "Her little piece of paradise."

Camp Manager

Debbie and Dale are fortunate to have a second generation "riverman" as their Camp Manager. Brett Silliker has been guiding for 18 years having attained the skills from his uncle Guy Silliker (also written about in Curtis' River Guides of the Miramichi). Brett is a strict conservationist and has taught anglers from around the world his skills to hook salmon. He has managed the camp for the past 14 years and has earned the respect of many of the other "rivermen" for his skills and expertise. Return clients often ask specifically for his services.
